Matt Dasilva has been playing guitar for 43 years. He made a living on the East Coast playing in various bar and function bands throughout the 70’s and 80’s. Matt moved to the Twin Cities in 1992 from Salt Lake City, and proceeded to teach computer to a business associate, who then become Matt’s first guitar student in Minnesota. Today in 2007, Matt is a full time guitar teacher. Matt is also President and Founder of March 2 Music Enterprises (1992), which is a company that produces A Guitarist Dream Creation Sheets, and A Guitarist Dream Book Mark Line.
Hey, you don't want your guitar to be nothing but furniture, do you? Learn how to play that thing, and have some fun while you're doing it. I teach theory that is practical. If you use what I teach, you will not only know what to play, but also the reasoning behind it.
I like to think of it as exploring the fretboard. What can I get this guitar to do, and what is the best way to approach it?
So, if you're interested in playing, but also knowing what it is you're playing, I can help with that. Email today to set up your first lesson (which is free). We got to make sure we have the right chemistry. You meet me; I meet you, and we see what we can do!). I'm starting to get real busy now, so email today to insure that I can take you before I get totally booked up.

The Guitar Wheel. All students will be required to purchase the Guitar Wheel for study purposes. It is the best few bucks that you will ever invest into your musical study (besides me of course), and is the only required study text that I insist you have. I waited twenty years for a tool like this, and it's worth every penny. This item must be purchased around your 4th lesson to continue your studies with me. For more information on the Guitar Wheel, go to www.Guitarwheel.com and say hi to dustin and his crew. By the way, if you never study with me, this is still a great investment in your musical future.
Just a word to the beginner.

I would just like to mention a few things about lessons.
I don't do half hour lessons because it's a waste of your time. In fact, if you were to take lessons from someone other than me, this is what would probably happen.
After tuning your instrument, chit chatting about what's happening in the world, finding out what you did in your studies last week and getting you up to speed for your lesson, you would then have 15 minutes of lesson left, and 5 for lesson review that you have to quickly push yourself through, seeing that the next student is already there.
Let's see what the standard price is for these 1/2 hour lessons. Oh, that would be about $20 Plus, think of all of the free advertising that you get. What is the amp of the day that someone is trying to sell you? What guitar do you need to get that sound? Can't be the least pricy one of course. What pedal will you be shown to solve your particular problems? It just happens to be the one on sale this week, or maybe it's the one that has the best mark up.
Let's see, you will need to do a contracted package plan to get you started. You think you're saving some money by taking out two months of cookie cutter package lessons at a place that has a lot of instruments to move, and they must create a market to move them to... that's you. After you have run out the package, see what the lessons cost then. Oh, and don't forget, you've gotten yourself that guitar and amp dujour that you will be paying for for awhile.
Here's where I differ. When I show you a pedal; it's my pedal. It's one that I actually use. Will it be good for you? Who knows, but you start with my biases so when you go out to get your pedal, you'll have the right questions to ask. I have certain instruments that I love, and some I hate, but I have my reasons for this; not because I'm trying to sell you something. Does that mean you have to mimic my likes, or dislikes......HECK NO! I want you to think. I want you to check out everything out there, and find your instrument. How that guitar feels in your hand is everything. Not being sold something because it's what we're pushing today is refreshing.
When I give you a lesson, it's not a cookie cutter lesson. My goal is to get you started, and to peak your interest in learning what is happening on your instrument that you purchased, with some knowledge either from me, or from someone that you might even know.
You spend $25 an hour, for an hour of one to one instruction. I'll prod and poke you till you get the idea that we're working on together, and I will give you homework that I expect you to do before the next lesson. In fact I've designed my own paper not only to help you write down what you're studying, but also to get your ideas down on paper.
Now with all of this said, let's get down to one basic thing. If learning guitar becomes a chore, it's not fun anymore. Well, I believe in fun. I believe it's my job to get you to explore your possibilities, and show you the opportunities. If I can't do that for you, I will insist that you learn from someone else, cause I'm not for you. That's where the free lesson comes to play. I want to insure that we are compatible and have a basic chemistry. I have never liked taking lessons from someone that I didn't like, and will not do that till this day.
So email me, and we'll set up a time to get to know each other.
